Hello all,
One of our fish died last night. We all observed him fighting to live yesterday afternoon but alas, this morning, it was all over. We held a brief memorial attended by all those present. Some kind words were said like:
Goodbye fish.
I liked you when you were alive.
You will never swim again.
and then David led us in our send off song--So Long It's Been Good to Know Ya.
Kerry then explained to a very quiet group that the fish will be buried under our mandarin orange tree because eventually the dead fish will turn to rich soil which will help the tree grow. This we learned from the Native Americans who would bury dead fish by their corn to help the corn grow tall and strong.
Each child placed a lavender flower on the fish and now the fish rests under the tree with a shell as it's marker.
Carry on.
